Just finished The Grand Inquisitor. Please help a brainlet out. I've only got so far that the inquisitor is accusing Jesus of giving mankind free will, which he considers to be a burden, not a gift as mankind is meant to be a slave to something - and thats where inquisition and the wordly papal authority comes in, proactively making people believe in Christianity. Iirc Ivan's article also argued in favour of some kind of a theocratic state.

I can find little motivation to read translated works because I feel as if I'm only reading a counterfeit. I haven't read the Brother's Karamazov for this reason. Am I doing myself a disservice?
