I can't stand this question, how are you supposed to answer it without provoking ridicule? Shakespeare fervently supported monarchy, yet plenty of people will claim its all satire.

What are some authors similar to Dostoyevski but without all the Christian moral fagging? I hate how he writes strong characters only to have them suffer later in some profound way
>see guys this is what happens if you excercise your will to power well looks like christian morality was right again :^)
What are some good works of fiction that unapologetically focus on Ubermensch-esque characters?

Someone explain the P&V meme to me. Are their translations really the best for Dostoevsky? I don't understand how their system is supposed to be better than a translation by one person

Just finished The Grand Inquisitor. Please help a brainlet out. I've only got so far that the inquisitor is accusing Jesus of giving mankind free will, which he considers to be a burden, not a gift as mankind is meant to be a slave to something - and thats where inquisition and the wordly papal authority comes in, proactively making people believe in Christianity. Iirc Ivan's article also argued in favour of some kind of a theocratic state.
I'm looking for the Russian literature this party sucks meme too.

>how long did Dostoevsky last as a celebrity? A year? Nine months? Six? Three? The correct answer is: 15 days. That's right. Poor Folk was published on 15 January 1846; The Double followed on 30 January. Cue the reputation apocalypse.
>Thirteen years later he did emerge from exile to score a comeback with his novel-memoir House of the Dead, but according to Mochulsky, Dostoevsky never recovered his confidence. Even as he was writing some of the greatest books in world literature he remained consumed with anxiety that he had not yet "established his reputation".

Dostoevsky, clearly

"The poor little darling creature, scarcely three months old, had already, for me, individuality and character. She was just beginning to know and love me, and always smiled when I came near. When i sang songs to her in my ridiculous voice, she loved listening to them. She did not cry or pucker up her face when i kissed her; she stopped crying when i went up to her. And now they tell me, to console me, that I shall surely have other children.

But where is Sonia ? where is the little creature for whom I would, believe me, gladly have suffered death upon the cross, if she could have remained alive ?"
