I liked Eragon when I first read it (which was at about the age of 12 judging by publication dates and memory), I also finished the second book but it was desperately in need of some trimming down so that killed my interest in the series.
I wouldn't have even known the series had been concluded were it not for a friend who decided to make it the one book he'll read in a year
