What are some writers with very unique styles? If you were given a passage written by them, unattributed, you would instantly tell who the author is?

Help me out here, /lit/. There was some guy, I think Samuel Johnson but I'm not sure, who gave a good argument on why it's better to read Shakespeare than to watch performed. Who was it, and what was the argument?
