If your book didn't make me cry it sucks

Shakespeare is really really overrated. He gets promoted a lot, and he has his uses--legit skill, connection with the U.S, historical value, mental acuity teaching--but he really is like the bible or any other overrated work, something that everyone feels the need to elevate that really is just another literally book, on par with any other contemporary thing. I feel the need to say this because these delusions, these frauds and these lies and the delusions they engender are bad for people, and people should say something.

whenever i have time i read a book, when i watch a movie i read the subtitles when i listen to music i read the lyrics when i am at my phone i read posts all day when i have nothing to do i pick something anything and just read read read

I'm Russian and my parents and grandparents told me some stories.
My grandmother (born 38') would tell me how during German occupation german soldiers stationed in their village would warn them when nazi death squads were on their way, and everyone would hide their children because they killed kids. She also told me how one German once came to their home, gave them some sugar and told them that he had 3 children back in Germany. And after the war NKVD agents came to the village and warned everyone not to drink from the wells because nazis dumped dead bodies there. She also said that when Stalin died everyone in her school was crying and nobody knew what was going to happen now.
My grandfather was a sailor and he told me a story about how they were near Caribbean sea during the cold war and American ships approached them and made them swim away.
My father was a soviet officer stationed in Poland where he lived with my mother on a military base, and my mother told me that Poles were extremely poor and shelves in shops in the city nearby were always empty.

why is purple prose bad? I love purple prose. So many pretty words.
