I like to read at cafes because if I read at home I'll never socialize ever again (besides work.) I've made new friends and often see old colleagues. Even met my gf at a coffee shop.

The difference between dudes who can't get laid and incels is probably 10 IQ points. Incels are stupid people- they often describe at length how genetically they are dead-ends, but fail to realize this is true cognitively as well. They spend their entire day posting about their inceldom, how ugly they are, making fake chad tinder accounts, looking at dating app statistics. Thinking about themselves is their main hobby. They're not inquisitive about the world, they're not reading a novel, they're not practicing instruments. They're posting on incel forums about how much it sucks to be an incel. What kind of mind would be entertained by such monotony? It's an existence only a creature of extremely low potential would enjoy. There are ugly dudes that never get laid that don't identify as incels because they don't think the fact they're not getting laid is the most interesting idea in the world. They're coding or going rock climbing or trying a new recipe from a cookbook. Living a life that is lonely, with at least they embrace areas of their life where they have agency rather than agonizing over the areas they don't. If you're ugly, practice an art and create beauty. If you can create something beautiful I guarantee the fact you're not getting laid will not seem so significant.

Reading for genuine knowledge can enrich your life. I get your sentiment though because there are annoying, tendentious purveyors of reading and philosophy who are disingenuous and are just larping bugmen.
It boils down to asking yourself "why am I reading this" and for what purpose. Tolstoy and Aurelius were advocates of such theories that too much philosophy is not good for everyone and can corrupt you if it's not your true calling.
