Why does it feel like I'm the only one writing middle grade in any writing community I visit? Nobody seems interested in writing stories like the ones that inspired them to enjoy reading in the first place. I've been trying to find a critique partner for my novel's second draft, but nobody seems interested in children's stories.

Hello friends, I am writing a YA novel. One of the main characters (not the protagonist) is a young fairy girl. Should I make her a full-on fairy with weird skin and wings and such, or a half-fairy who's basically just a human with some things glued on? Thank you for reading :)

What's your favorite Harry Potter book, /lit/? And why?

I like Chamber of Secrets. It's only the second in the series, but also the last one that really feels like a kid's book. The rest are teenager angst bullshit, filled with coming of age problems. Harry's still dealing with the loss of his parents and searching for his place. He was not yet the wizarding world's messiah, just a kid who went on adventures. Which book do you like?
