The political elite is afraid of populism and wants to maintain the status quo. They don't see minorities as a threat because they're elitist and look down on them (cultural differences are a novelty for them and they don't give a fuck because their wealthy metropolitan base doesn't have to compete with them for working-class shit like decent wage jobs and homeownership); there's also a level of cynicism in that they think they need minority votes to maintain power in the future (hence pandering and empty symbolic gestures).

They'll label one riot as if it were a highly organized insurrection and another as a "mostly peaceful" protest. Alternative facts...fake news...Orwellian language isn't even called out as such anymore (it's literally doing what it's meant to do and slams shut the Overton window; the words serve as markers for supposed critical thinking).

The Left has made race-baiting the centerpiece of its political platform. All the Right can do is react to it and seem more and more racist as cultural shift causes that word to become meaningless.
