Overtly masculine protagonists don't seem popular anymore. Softer protagonists with massive flaws whether physical or mental seem to be all the rage now. Conan had flaws of course but he'd usually either just sneak, fight or fuck his way out of a situation.

Personally I'd like to see a new barbarian hero in the same vein as Conan gain popularity with the current fantasy fanbase but like the anon above me mentioned that trend sailed a long time ago.
