Is all this "muh western canon" bs just a symptom of people 150 years ago having no (or less) free speech, and education being only for the privileged few?

Wait, so when you're writing books you write women characters as if their main desire is to be an alpha male's fuck toy, right? You don't actually write them the same as if they're equal to men but more caring or some blue pilled crap like that?

Also I want to hear what cool stuff you writer people have done in the last two weeks that gives you inspiration for writing. You don't just go to college, do you?

This is easily the worst board on 4chan. I've been here for the last six hours, browisng on and off, not posting, just reading.

In that time, all I've seen are pseudo-critical threads where people try to out do each other with pseudo-philosophy; threads bashing acclaimed books without giving any coherent argument as to why they're bad; people copy pasting their own crap writing; threads accusing other posters of being beta/autistic/virgins; misogynistic threads about feminism; and finally, entire threads where people take cheap shots at Fifty Shades of Grey, as it's the only thing they're intelligent enough to comment on.

The only redeeming threads I have seen so far are a list thread about the Western Canon, and a thread that had a discussion of Blood Meridian. That's it. In two hours, about 20 posts of any redeeming quality, swimming in a sea of drivel.

Where are the discussions about literature? Importantly, where are the friendly, reasoned, and logical debates about literature that should come from posting records? Why are you all so obsessed with antagonizing each other over things that aren't even remotely connected to books or literature?

I don't know how long this has gone on for, or why there aren't mods, or whether it's always been like this. Suffice to say, in this current state, I don't see why this board should continue to exist, when better sites such as GoodReads, and even Reddit forums of all things, seem to offer more vibrant, as well as more welcoming, debate.

So, first and only post, just to let you know /mu/, that's it's been a major disappointment.
