A few questions concerning God's death:

How did Nietzsche find out?

Did He die of old age, was He murdered, eaten (how did he die)?

Do you think Nietzsche spoke to God before His death? I ask because I assume God foresaw His own death and perhaps he told Nietzsche. I think this is highly probable. After reading Thus Spoke Zarathustra, I'm convinced it was divinely inspired, like the Bible. Notice the similar style (i.e., God's style).

So, since God is dead, does that mean heaven no longer exists?

I'd appreciate some help here. Also, feel free to bring up more questions concerning God's death. Thanks.

Religion was necessary and paramount to the foundation of civilizations that could actually stand the test of time. It gave people a common belief that they could come together upon and unite under, setting down their differences. Stories of the Bible gave a common ancestry, an idea of being "in it together", traditions like agape, etc.

It can be argued now (like Nietzsche said) that religion has served its purpose and must now be shed in order for civilization to move forward. Today to us it's unnecessary, as we have more common bonds. God is dead, and we killed him to march onwards, maybe. But it was undeniably essential back then.

So yeah the Bible caught on because people liked it and it made them think cooperation and construction are good ideas.
