My favorite epic poem is "The Faerie Queene" by Edmund Spencer and I have only read the first 2 parts. After that I was so moved that I felt like I needed to stop and get a better background in arthurian and christian myth before continuing. So as to enjoy the richness of the poetry more fully in its proper context. Before that I never bought into the "read x before y" meme. Highly recommended. Its too bad he never finished it.

Lately I've been very interested in the Middle English through Early Modern English period of British literature: Canterbury Tales, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and 'newer' stuff like the Faerie Queene etc.

What are your favorite works originally written in either Middle English or Early Modern English?

What is the best edition of this poem?
I'm thinking about A.C. Hamilton or Hackett

Not as long as Canada owns the Arctic. And we barely take part in the surveillance except as private operators, and that's mostly in due protection of honor. Mostly end up legal jargon I imagine, but that we are most assured of winning.

I was reading (and fapping) to Bible Black when they reference this book, "The Faerie Queene", of which I have never heard of.

Have you read it? What's your opinion of it?

Why couldn't it be? Didn't Plato mention that the poets could corrupt people? And perhaps the most entertaining works won't be dealing with virtue.
