Read them. Learn from them. Study them.
After that, unread them, unlearn them, unstudy them and get ready for the final boss.

greatest intellectual & academic works tho:

being & time
>technology & technical *thinking* a thing. descartes on suicide watch
ecrits
>lacan btfo the hysterical self-seeking sphinx that you is. stop being a hysterical sphinx. lrn 2 in2 discourse
capitalism & schizophrenia
>de/reterritorialization, machinic desire. also b/c deleuze is god-tier metaphysician
things hidden
>cultural/philosophical anthropology of memes & sacrifice & scapegoating
symbolic exchange & death
>when karl marx met georges bataille
fanged noumena*
>vroom vroom

*true, published in 21C but you get the idea

all the big guys are worth reading. OP's book is indeed & worth reading & zizek is no meme. he's the world's best exegete of lacan, who connects the fucked-out 21C back to freud, and from freud all the way back to Dem Greeks
>hnng dem greeks

so i'll vouch for any one of those above.

Most of my understanding of philosophy has come from second hand sources. What do I need to read in order to be able to get on to Being and Time?

So apparently this is one of the most difficult philosophical texts ever. What do you suggest as necessary prior reading in order to understand it?

Alright well, I thought I was safe for life. I didn't think it would ever come to this, bros but, these women never learn. Today in my philosophy class some young poser slag with a nose ring, forearm tattoo, and a flannel tied around her waist brought in a copy of pic related. She told the professor she was reading it, asked, him his opinion of Heideggers work, and they talked about the best translations for a while. There was even a bookmark placed some hundred or so pages in.

This wouldn't be such a problem if I haven't been carrying the same book around all semester waiting for someone to notice my intelligence and good taste, of yet to no avail. Who does this bitch think she is? What should I do here?

I feel like I have a concrete understanding of existentialism, and I want to move onto another branch of philosophy. I was directed toward phenomenology so I decided that existential phenomenology should be a good introduction for me. I purchased Being and Time today and I plan on reading it, but I'm interested to hear what /lit/ thinks about Hedeigger, Being and Time, and phenomenology in general.
