I was usually anonymous in the beginning. Back when /b/ was still rather slow. (This was just before the Happy Negro shoop floods) We occasionally adopted names back then, but people didn't much care to fill it out. It was laziness that started the anonymous cult. I used to request camgirls remove articles of clothing, but broke with /b/'s craziness and kicked around a few other boards. I felt rather lonely when posting, but, while posting in /news/, I happened upon using > in the namefield. Stormfront invaded 4chan about then and I took refuge on /lit/. Around then Zalgo was the rage in /b/, and I plucked a section off of someone's text and put it in the namefield. I felt like someone again, I could follow my posts in threads, this of course was before there was any (You)s.
It's comforting for me. Don't let it bother you.
