I think their existential torment is exactly why they are so willing to give up humanity for some vague idea of a transhumanist future. People will wholesale our freedom for false promises. Only the rich and the elite will get access to these things. The rift between us will grow and there will be all out war, ending in either genocide or biowarfare.

Like all lefties, they fail to see the consequence of revolutions and compartmentalize the great suffering they always cause and continue to justify their unrealistic beliefs. Cybernetics/transhumanism still doesn't solve the problem of scarcity, thus their Marxist beliefs will always crumble or turn into authoritarianism.
