Since we only know about Socrates through accounts I'll tally him out. Don't know what you mean by "had [...] philosophy" Philosophy is an act of investigation into wisdom and truth. Who investigated wisdom and truth more thoroughly between Aristotle and Plato and through which are we made more ready to undertake philosophy better through reading? (I think that is a better phrasing of the question. While Aristotle lays his conclusions on the table more readily than Plato, Plato requires more engagement from the reader while also giving us examples of conversations between different schools of thought. Aristotle is useful if you want to eschew the whole 'pondering philosopher' model and jump straight into a realm of study. Plato is more useful if you want a sense of breadth in thought that can help you be more prepared for anomalous circumstances.

Do you like Wittgenstein?

His early work was a little too 'logical-positivistic' for my taste. But when Tractatus Logico-philosophicus came out in '22, I think he really came into his own, intellectually and artistically. The whole book has an apodictic, analytic tenor, and a new sense of mathematical logic that really gives his theses a big boost. He's been compared to AJ Ayer and GE Moore, but I think Wittgenstein has a far more original, mystical sense of philosophizing.

After his death in '51, his estate released this: Philosophical Investigations, his most accomplished monogram. I think his undisputed masterpiece is his repudiation of the programme set out by the Tractatus -- an argument so convincing, most people probably don't pay attention to the footnotes. But they should, because its not just about the culmination of his philosophical inquiry, or the success of the Analytic school, but it's also a personal statement about the author himself.

Hey, Hilbert!

Try leading the world back into Cantor's Paradise now you stupid bastard!
