hey /lit/
What do you guys think are the key plot points in 1984?
I read it because no one would shut the hell up about it, and I kinda liked it. And I was just wondering what you guys think.

>tfw this book is so fucking bleak I have to take occasional breaks just so I don't go into soul-crushing despair
>tfw people in North Korea live like this
>tfw forced to distract myself from this fact with music and games so I do not start crying like a psychopath
>tfw the niggling in the back of my head tells me if this government actually got into power this is exactly how the people would react.
>tfw I'm not even past page 100
>tfw it's going to take me three months to read a 300 page book
I was unprepared for this.

You are now the protagonist of the last story you read. How fucked are you?

I am extremely fucked.

In both senses

Just finished this and was curious about other peoples opinion on how or why this would be considered a satire? and a successful one at that.

Hey /lit/, I have to do an extensive project on a book at the end of the semester to pass English. I would like a book recommendation. Genre really doesn't matter to me.

Non-/lit/ regular here, but I need to inquire your help. For a reading project, we have to submit several components showing our understanding of literary terms. The one I'm stuck on is poetry, which I have no feeling for. I was wondering if I could have some help writing the poem, it needs to be centered around a literary term - imagery, mood, symbolism, or satire - and it would be a great help if I could get started on it.

Sup /lit/. I've just gotten back into reading, and I was wondering if you guys had a wiki or something like /v/'s reccomended games wiki but for books. If not I'm looking for something that has a plot that keeps you interested but also deeper meanings and all that shit. Pic related, just finished rereading it.

/lit/ for my senior AP Lit class, I have to read two books.
One is 1984 by George Orwell, and the other is "How to Read Literature Like a Professor" by Thomas Foster.

I have until September 8th to finish both of them.

Part of the assignment is to summarize each chapter of each book in exactly 75 words.

How much time daily should I devote to this project in order to finish it on time?

ITT: What book you're reading, where you are, and what you think of it so far

I'm at the part where Winston and Julia are at O'Brien's and have just joined the Brotherhood.

It's pretty good, better than Fahrenheit 451, which I just read before this.

Now that we've discussed that, what are some particularly great cover designs?
I really like this one.

ITT: Books everyone tells us we should read, we know we should probably read, and we would like to read....but haven't quite gotten around to reading yet for no real reason we can name.
