I shitted on Ozu because he has too much empathy. A coat for his autistic lack of understanding for reality. So his works, on the surface, look like they're presenting something soberingly real, but it's all mathematical contrivance with his shot composition based around modernist geometry and japanese naturalist aesthetics encroached by industrialization. So it's ripe for the picking by the alienated, effeminate, and weak, autistic, teenage, cinelitophile. But for anybody that's had more than a share of real struggle, real hardship, and real loss, not enduring being grounded from video games and whining about being privileged middle class through violent tantrums, he's a mudpuddle meant to be driven over.
