When I was 16yo, I really enjoyed his trilogy, especially the first novel (L'âge de raison), the two next ones a little less. I was never able to read Nausea, even 6 months ago.
The collection of short stories called "Le Mur" is fine. Same with his most famous theatre plays, like Huis Clos (usually his longer plays are less famous and straightforward - it's not like he's a great playwright anyway)
Among the essays, the best start would be "L'existentialisme est un humanisme", unless you prefer to pick short essays collected in the numerous volumes of "Situations". Another good entry point as an essay would be "Anti-Semite and Jew", which goes further than examining judaism and antisemitism.

Thank you OP, I didn't know Wittgenstein had written something that actually makes sense. It's good news to me.
What I'm wondering is if "inclination towards this secretiveness" is distinct from "secretive and cunning nature" ; I guess it is, but then I can see no reason for the 'inclination towards secretiveness" itself since it seems to be independent from any actual event or cause or social factor. The comparison with animals definitely does not allow any smart interpretation to the quote. Wittgenstein was definitely an idiot.
By the way, the book on pic contains some relevant thoughts on the issue.
