>I thought Marx didn't make moral or ethical claims?

Depends if you think an argument in favor of rational self-interest is an ethical claim. His claim is that since capitalism exploits a worker's labor power, it is in the self-interest of workers to abolish capitalism just as it was in the self-interest of the slave to abolish slavery.

I find it somewhat annoying because it feigns to be very radical politically but in practice it is simply a form of liberal accelerationism. For all his in-depth analysis of power and institutions, the conclusion to Foucault's thought for example is simply a form of radical liberalism; e.g he wanted to do away with the concept of stigma altogether in service of individual people's social freedom. You can of course not expect any different from a homosexual who lives in an era where that wasn't as socially acceptable as it is today, but it is strange to me that the only thing philosophy can produce these days are variations of liberalism, there's nobody who has anything interesting to say in the field apart from "I want you to have more freedom, this is how to get there."
