any piece of turkish literature older than 100 years is filled with arabic and persian words that hardly anyone knows.
pic related was written in 1919 by an author who participated in the movement that purified the language. its got 7 footnotes for words like i mentioned in the first page of the book. it tells something.
there are still good writers and poets in 20th century though.
