Anyone else here can only read/write if they're obliged to?
For example,i went on a short story competition in college. There was not many people in it so you could submit multiple times. I wrote 3 of them and finished it all in 2 days and spent the whole week after tweaking plot points and editing. I ended up not submitting them because i saw that it asked for you to perform your short story for everyone and it would be pretty autistic. Anyway, i really loved the process of writing and editing, but since then, i couldn't ever produce a single sentence. I just stare at the blank page for some minutes then i close it and go shitpost on 4chin. It's like i can only do things if there are deadlines to them. When i'm free, i have no motivation to do anything. Same thing about reading. My major is not on humanities but i took an extra class for points in introduction to ethics and you had to read some chapters of The Republic and then write a paper and discuss with class. I did it in a day and the discussion was somewhat enlightening and i now envy phil students because the process of discussing your ideas face to face is pretty comfy. Still, even though i enjoyed it, i have the rest of Plato on my reading list and i can't finish anything, not even a 50 page dialogue or the rest of The Republic.
How do i fix this, lads? I feel like writing is too good and i was encouraged to pursue it. I submitted one of the short stories to some professors and i got an email back saying that it was very good but had some flaws in it, and that i should start socializing with writers for me to improve.

How it is even possible to be a writer? How do you manage to write more than a page per day? And don't say "just write bro", it's impossible. I'm unironically writing at the pace of 2 or 3 sentences a day. I simply cannot write if every sentence isn't perfect in relation to the previous and the next. It's such a problem, that i couldn't even write the first sentence, (it would be a paradox) so i decided to literally copy a first sentence of a book that i like (Tlon, Uqbar from Borges) and then i started writing my own text, to then delete the copied sentence after i had a paragraph (then i had to rewrite the paragraph because it revolved around the Borges short story, and i didn't want to write a Borges short story, so now the text is like, three times removed from what i initially wanted to write). I know that are good writers around here. I'm unironically convinced this place will spawn a canonical writer or two in the next decades. How do you manage to shit out a sentence and then edit (since your first draft is always trash)?
