Imagine you had plans for two weeks, and all of sudden, they dropped out from under you: I just finished my semester in school, and was supposed to be traveling for the next week or so, but instead I'll be hanging around doing nothing for two weeks. This is unexpected and I have no where to go, and nothing to do. What would you read? I plan on writing during this time.

im 27, so way beyond the piint of naturally picking up a language. is there any point to learning it to read getman stuff? will i ever be able to read goethe, nietzsche, etc. in german? would it be worth it? how long would it take? after all that, would it be any better than reading the translation of a person who has dedicated their life to it?

what makes you think my ideal partner would be into books?
