Just finished 2010 and I think I liked it more than 2001 actually. Both were so so good! Are the next two worth reading? I’ve heard they’re kinda garbage but saw them both at half price books the other day and I’m tempted to go back

Well, I just finished pic related and enjoyed it thoroughly. It reminded me of a bizarro world Roadside Picnic. Where, instead of all powerful ayys being disinterested with lesser forms of life. They nurture and cultivate it wherever they can. I’d say its at the same level as the first book in the series, and if you already watched the movie you can hop into this book without reading the first. Although a pet peeve of mine is how Clarke will change parts of his stories on the fly. Like how in Childhoods End where He swapped the first encounter from the Cold War, to WW2. He does it again here to conform to the movie timeline, instead of the book.
IMO the best part of the book was the Europa sections, and would recommend it based solely on that. Also I’d recommend it to anyone who wants an explanation of the big space baby ™.
