If you arrived through the lovecraft pipeline, fewer monsters, more atmosphere, better writing generally. One of my favorite stories and I feel a very good example of what sets ligotti apart from other wf authors is The Mystics of Mullenburg. More worldly experience than HPL but just as misanthropic, from a shitty Detroit rust belt upbringing instead of the sheltered gentry life that lovecraft larped.

“Rightist infighting is so bizarre. Like with lefties, someone usually becomes left wing and ends up in one of its camps without really progressing through the others, but right wingers usually follow a pipeline. There’s no common route where anarchists become tankies, but almost every nazi was once just a regular fascist, and almost every fascist was once a “libertarian”. That sounds like a recipe for them to work together, but it seems like they have more infighting than we do, it’s weird.”
