The point is that right now, "authentic" Catholic culture is, actually, a bit of an underground culture. It's the outcasts and the weirdos who are rediscovering the ancient traditions of the Church. But like all underground cultures, it's small, but vibrant. And like all underground cultures, it will eventually burst into the mainstream. The weirdos will have their day.

I am Romantic, but I also think I'm being realistic here. What's there to do, if you're a young person, but pick up something from the past? How do you move forward at this point in history, except by going backwards, or by attaching yourself to something ancient which has survived to the present day? The pure spirit of progress has only ground everything down to rubble. What other option is there, if you're young and searching for meaning?

inb4 Land and his oily tentacles, Land himself is merely restating old truths.
