That presupposes an assumption of a significant barrier to genuine development and awareness on an entire class of people that I think is specious at best. The same could also be said for men. Kids and the insane build and do things too.

And I disagree. I think that women should be given the social option to stay home, but they shouldn't be barred from entry into the public sphere if that's where they feel their time is best invested. There are certain places they won't be able to go, much in the same way there a certain places men won't or aren't able to go, but to keep them out entirely is something that led to our present day situation, and I don't think trying to return to it and pretending like all this time hasn't happened is a wise choice.
