please help me /lit/, i can't read fiction (well, lengthy fiction) ever since i've finished all of dostoevsky
tried three tolstoy books, dropped all of them, i really want to read but absolutely everything bores me and frustrates me
what i liked about dostoevsky is the diversity of dark/mystical thematics, the abundance of charismatic characters and interpersonal relationships, and of course the amount of emotions, can anybody advise a similar book? the longer the better
thanks in advance

i dont usually get off to books but i found demons/the brothers karamazov incredibly erotic in some weird subtextual sadomasochistic way, also the raw youth
>dat submissiveness/self-humiliation/adoration kink
got to the night/ivan tsarevich chapters in demons and first meeting with Smerdyakov chapter in TBK and i was fucking sold

1. How come the best writers (like Tolstoy, Céline, Jünger, etc.) are more often than not conservatives, reactionaries or even fascist?

2. How come the same phenomena is not seen in other art forms such as cinema and painting?

3. How is a leftist supposed to fill his library when most books contradict his political views? On top of my head, the only authors I can think of that don't are Camus and Orwell.

And how come this filth is mostly catering to women?

I read Demons years ago but it still bugs me. Not the book itself, but my reaction to it: the whole thing about Stavrogin's crime felt so damn disproportional. Have all these years of 4chan left me jaded or was Dostoevsky overreacting?

What does /lit/ think of Chekhov? Would you recommend his short stories or plays? Any particular works you would recommend? I am trying to give him a shot but I think he might just not be for me

You think you have problems?

I only have a teeny tiny bit of OCD and I can't properly read fucking ANYTHING because I have to read FUCKING EVERYTHING twice and look at the page numbers A MILLION times when I turn pages. That only among others.

Especially annoying when I'm trying to finish paragraphs or chapters. There it gets really bad.
I'm stuck on the same page for minutes - and then my jaw gets stiff because I tend to move my lips the more nervous I get. And then I also loose my concentration and have to start the sentences again, even though sometimes I'm only stuck on parts of sentences.

And what's the stuff I want to read?
Stuff like Dostoyevski and Tolstoi!

Do you know how much of an effort it is to read shit like that this way?
Do you know how much of an asspain it is everytime I open a book and realize I'm not getting anywhere over 25 pages in HALF A FUCKING HOUR?
Do you know how fucking annoying it is to even realize what kind of condition it is but to be absolutely unable to change it?

So FUCK YOU and your whiny reading comprehension bullshit. Be lucky you're not dealing with this shit instead.
