When did you grow out of the "local bookstore" meme?

Local bookstores are run by incompetent old people and present the worst way possible to purchase a book.

>"hello i would like to buy [book]"
>a man with a mustache types the book numbers that i give him into the computer
>he's working very slowly and types them in wrong twice so that i have to correct him
>"well i can't find it here..."
>i give him the name of the author and the book title
>he types the numbers into google
>"well this book is from back in '87... they probably don't print it anymore"
>he continues to look for a different edition and says that i might have luck with an antiquarian bookseller
>he says he can order a translation
>it's an e-book

>i tell him to have a nice day and go home
>every major bookstore chain that i look up is stocking the book new
>buy it on amazon
