Is all his stuff really all worthless now? I remember how disdainful psychology teachers were of him. How much of that is true vs. Just the politics of the field and wanting to do away with old styles of thinking

Psychoanalysis is the real deal, and this is coming from a "fascist", (although im not tied to any ideology. I just believe in what ideas wins arguments, which is fascism #1 and Marxism as #2, which is inferior in terms of intellect but still intellectually brave.)

Through an understanding of Freud and Dr Robert Sapolsky, you can understand the motivations of any person in the world. You can see through them like they are naked.
Why?
Sapolsky shows us that free will does not exist.
And Freud shows us that the motivation of every human being is sexual reproduction.

Your personality, ideology, and identity is simply based in what gives you the greatest chance of sexual reproduction. Your concious brain did not come to your identity through conscious decision, it came to your identity through deciding what identity/ ideology/ personality would give you the greatest chance at reproduction.

What this means, is that every single man/ guy you know has come to their personality/ ideology/ self because that is what gives them the highest chance at sexual reproduction. It was not a concious choice, it is determined by their biology/ brain, since free will does not exist, the idea that you thought out your identity is a post-hoc rationalization, not actually something that you chose.

This combo of understanding that free will is fake and understanding the sexual motivation for everything will allow you superhuman-like abilities to instantly see through anyone, and to immediately understand everything that they are about. And I truly mean everyone.

Once you understand that free will does not exist, Freudian psychoanalysis of anyone becomes incredibly easy, however this does require VAST amounts of knowledge about 1) People and their Ideology, Identity, and Personality, and 2) Knowledge of what is sexually attractive to women (ie Looks, Masculine personality traits, height, etc.)

If only he had more time to live, he would have had the human psyche figured out.
Because Freud is dealing with the unconcious part of the brain, the only way to really understand Freud is to dive into ones own unconcious mind, and to take it apart slowly and conciously.

And even the subjects which Freud was not correct on, he still brought the range of possible answers to said issues down to just a few possibilities. So even if the stuff wasnt correct, the next logical opposite would be correct.

Freud was a genius among geniuses, and the amount of shitty groups of people he triggers tells me that he was onto something.

You start with Freud before Jung.
Freud for understanding the concious human beign in its natural state, and Jung for understanding the constructed human being in society.

What do you make of Freud and his theories?
From what I understand, Freud is completely correct about human psychology, and the only reason he is ridiculed for his theory on child sexuality towards their opposite sex parent, is because people are too cowardly to actually dive into their own psychology. Nobody wants to see themselves for what they are, which is an animal, and therefore they try to cope and pretend that Freud was wrong, and that they are these perfect beings who are exactly what they think of themselves.

You see, the you unclench your body and ease up on yourself, and dont shame yourself for whatever you might feel, it becomes apparent that what Freud is describing is the psychology of the fully conscious human. The white man is the most unconscious human of all, so it is incredibly hard for him to ever reach this true state of himself, because he does not want to feel these deeply repressed feelings.

Basically, Freud did it first, and Freud did it best.

Any recommendations for books based in research and discussion of psychology? I am studying psychology both as a hobby and in the future a profession and would love to see what /lit/ has for me. And please... nothing pseudo or Freud

So how do I start reading this guy?. Any literature charts or recommendations on how to approach him?

Is psychology worth reading for literary value the way philosophy is? Freud and Jung seem interesting to me, but their legacies seem very much in question and it's made me pretty confused about what the general verdict on them is. At the same time, modern psychology seems concerning to me to the point where I'm not sure I trust the experts in it to dismiss them. Any thoughts/recommendations on writings or books about psychology in general?
