I need an escape.
Are there any fantasy/sci-fi books that can hold a candle to the Book of the New Sun?
I have read all five.
Also I have read A Canticle for Liebowitz which is also great.
Looking for something that is as high quality as these.

The Book of the New Sun is my favorite series. The chapter where angels appear in the form of Malrubius and Triskele, and Severian experiences a religious epiphany on the beach[\spoiler] is one of the best pieces of writing I’ve read. I like to joke that Wolfe almost made me Catholic because you can just feel his conviction on the page there.

>We belive that we invent symbols. The truth is that they invent us; we are their creatures, shaped by their hard, defining edges. When soldiers take their oath they are given a coin, an asimi stamped with the profile of the Autarch. Their acceptance of that coin is their acceptance of the special duties and burdens of military life—they are soldiers from that moment, though they may know nothing of the management of arms. I did not know that then, but it is a profound mistake to believe that we must know of such things to be influenced by them, and in fact to believe so is to believe in the most debased and superstitious kind of magic. The would-be sorcerer alone has faith in the efficacy of pure knowledge; rational people know that things act of themselves or not at all.

Just finished this incredible epic, + Urth and Long Sun

Where the hell do I go know? How could any Sci Fi I read from now on even compare?

This world that Gene Wolfe created has been a part of my being for the better part of a year now. I feel empty knowing that it's all over. My thoughts are still buzzing about everything
