I was thinking about picrel today, in which many believe in the supernatural hound, but it is revealed to be trickery on the part of the villain. What are some stories where the opposite happens -- most of the characters scoff at and are skeptical of the supernatural, but it turns out real and just around the corner. I get that it's difficult to answer this question w/o spoilers, but I'm curious anyway

How is this one the go to representative Sherlock Holmes story? Study in Scarlet was much better.
