I just finished pic related. What's your take on the meaning behind the story?

Sorry if I'm expressing myself in a clumsy fashion, English isn't my mother tongue but you literary geniuses will surely figure out what I'm trying to convey :^)

So, I'll keep this short because I'd rather try to get at least some sort of conclusion through discussion than just writing a few hundred words by myself. Personally I think that the castle (more specifically the tower) represents the nature of the good and all the higher castle staff members represent already established values. The town folk try to get as close as possible to these values while everyone who acts against these values is looked down upon (K.; to some degree Frieda and the family of Barnabas). K.'s profession (land surveyor) suggest that his original goal was to map out the castle and its surroundings. Within the confines of the metaphor I came up with you could say that he's a philosopher who tries to uncover the nature of the good and everything that is connected to it.

Of course this probably isn't really a good or an accurate interpretation since I just finished the book and haven't read anything written about the book itself. Just something to start of a discussion.
