There is so much bad prose and prosaic plot elements in All Tomorrow's Parties, can't believe I got memed by Nick Land adjacent cultural studies essays into reading genre fiction.

Hey /lit/ in an emergency here---

Just picked up All Tomorrows Parties, assuming it to be a follow up to pattern recognition and spook country (The only other books mentioned on the inside cover)

Of course, it's a follow up to idoru, which I have never read.

The question: Should I read it anyway? Will I get a sense of the plot? Is it like the Lord of the Rings in that you NEED to have read the earlier books?
