Pensees by Pascal. His pessimism is on par with any philosopher you can name, only relieved by his severe theology. But at least half of his thoughts are on the insufficiency of the material alone (he was also a highly impactful in the realm of hydraulics I believe and also an engineer, inventing means of public transportation. So he's not just some unsuccessful christcuck who couldn't understand the world on a material level.) A quote I constantly keep in mind related to this topic is (this is a paraphrase, he wrote in French): minor things upset us because minor things entertain us.

Some essays from Society Against the State by Clastres is worth reading because he (perhaps idealistically, but that hardly matters) at least gives one a vision of how Amazonian tribes can live without material obsessions and coercive power structures (this to correct a notion of primitive materialism which underpins the insinuation that life is only and has only ever been a quest for stockpiling resources at the expense of everything else, and at least provide the basis of a vision for a world where desire and disappointment in the material doesn't have to be the central object of social metabolism.)

I'm not low-key advancing some worldview here. (Like I don't think you'll read these and become and anarcho-christian.) But if they help you are articulate your problem and maybe even your question, then I'm glad.
