What are your thoughts /lit/? Should I read them or are they a waste of time?

Are writing blogs a good idea? If I'm totally honest and leave out the bullshit that comes along with social media, is it still a good way to promote my writing, or is the writing secondary and creating and maintaining a wacky identity the real secret to promoting yourself?

If I post stories/poetry on a blog, will they be considered published, making me unable to submit them to magazines and contests? Most of what I'd put up would be practice and likely not very good anyway, but there would be some things I'd like to salvage and it would be a shame if I wasn't able to for legal reasons.

Also, if I decide to start a blog, what's the best website to use? I only know of tumblr, Blogger, and WordPress, but have no idea what to look for in terms of features.

So, general discussion for creative writing blogs. My main question is: would I be able to genuinely promote a blog of only creative writing without trying to sell an image of myself? Secondary questions: Would this help me find agents/publishers or seem like a step in the self publishing direction and turn them off to me?

I said I read a passage by him, and thought it was terrible. I also happen to think his books have good names. How the fuck are those things mutually exclusive?

>You guys have no justifiable reasons for hating anyone and just pull bullshit out of your ass.

1. My first five words in response to the OP's question are: "Overall I don't hate him".

2. I then go on to describe in detail my feelings towards the author.

3. "You guys" - I am not /lit/
