The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle
Just got done with Mamiya's story in chapter 13, part 1. Pretty stomach churning stuff.

Just marathoned this and Norwegian wood. I really enjoyed them both but preferred NW for the sharper narrative and characters.

Which next? And any other similar writers recommended?

Come on, /lit/. You like this book. I know you do. Murakami is doing what we all want to do, which is to just write a fucking kino story that reflects our interests and inspirations. It's honest work. Be nice to the Jap.

Pic related and his running memoir I loved. However, I have read like seven other of his books and he is a complete mediocrity. He writes absolutely without substance. I will read more because I want to find another that I enjoy as much as the two I like by him.

I don't get it.

Does anyone else think that the lieutenant's Mamyia war story is the most compelling part of this book? And that it's moving to such a degree that the rest feels like a needless addition?

I will admit the well the protagonist was living in for a while in Wind up Bird Chronicle sounded very cozy in a way.

Can someone evaluate my writing please. It’s my first time really sitting down to write a book. Go hard on the criticism, I know I need to improve.
