This book is fucking great.

Apparently it was maligned on publication (and originally deemed "unpublishable") - does anyone know when or how it got the reputation it rightfully deserves as one the best novels in Italian Literature?

Also - thanks to the /lit/ anon that made me push it up my endless to-read list with his own commendations.

Planning to read that as soon as I'm done with my current lot (about 4 books).
Does translation matter much? Pic related seems to be the only paparback version available here.

Traveling does not make you an interesting person (e.g. see all the thots that say they love traveling while they actually love jumping from penis to penis like a butterfly in spring across the praire of the world), but being an interesting person usually makes you want to travel.

Also since this is the /lit/ board and this thread should be at least remotely relevant, post pictures of books that really capture the spirit of a certain place and are great to read if you're traveling / have traveled there.

Pic related, anyone visiting Sicily should read this.
