This is like the 3rd time I'm rewriting the first chapter and the beginning. Everything else, fucking 60k words of it, is perfect and goes along what I envisioned. But the beginning always sucks and I'm absolutely never satisfied.
How do I get over this hurdle? Why don't I have a clear vision of how a story should begin? Why am I writing introductions and startups so poorly?
Frank Herbert was right, the beginning really is something fragile.
