hey /lit/, i have a question

What is the most common storyline in Science Fiction today, besides the egneric good vs bad of course

Like, back in the 80's, Ender's game was quite unique in the whole "child soldier" thing among Sci-Fi literature. Whats common and unique today in Sci-Fi?

The entire "Ender's Game" series by Orson Scott Card is absolutely fantastic. Every book is better than the last.

This is actually good for someone who wants to get back into reading.

There'll prolly be some argument that this should go in /tv/, but I figure /lit/ will better appreciate it.

The Ender's Game movie. . .What do you want it to be?

To speak broadly, I want it to be the novella with a few flashbacks to Ender's first days, with a "300-but-with-genius-kids-in-space" feel, and some (SOME) cgi/visual nods to the Scott Pilgrim movie to display some of Ender's thoughts/strategy and the arcade-iness of the war games.

That might sound moronic to some, but in terms of getting a marketable and authentic "feel" to the film, you could do way worse.

Thoughts?

I just read Enders Game. Do you know any other epic sci fi book? It doesn't have to have aliens, just being futuristic and epic.

Damn, so many books that needs to be read, too little time.

So over the last few years I've been reading sci-fi almost predominantly. Recently I acquired an ereader so now I've been getting heaps of books and flying through them.

I've been looking for sci-fi classics, or just some damn good sci-fi books in general.

So far I've read/reading/going to read:

The Forever War (any other decent Haldeman books?)
Ringworld
Consider Phlebas
Ender's Game
Commonwelth/Void series
Night's Dawn trilogy
Contact
Galapagos (got Cat's Cradle and Slaughterhouse 5 to read too)

Any other recommendations? I tried the Foundation series but found it a little boring so I gave up, maybe some other day I say.
