Leftism rarely believes in the individual as more than a means to an end. The Party is where it's at, you see. There are plenty of beliefs and narratives that believe in progress and individual. Campbell and the spiritualists would be more in your alley. Progress is defined by the goal, so as long as you don't believe in a bad end for the world and its processes, you can safely believe in progressions. Self-improvement was an important aspect of the National Socialist doctrine.
However, as bait it also works well for classical and neo-liberal viewpoints. Pic related.

It's not irreversible, but damn is it a chore to heal. Public education makes people atheists and robots. That's its job, to put you in the proper class within the society, believing the things society wants you to believe.

If we had leadership that didn't want the population to be atheists, they wouldn't be. Sociology, psychology and organization have grown massive infrastructures beyond time, and are guiding human evolution. Though this particular ideology is very much like old idols and demons. You sacrifice to them and live by their rules, wear their clothes, talk like them, follow their narrative and so forth. This particular one has the stare and glasses of the one that opposes all things good.
