>Without permissiveness you do not have freedom, you have people conforming to what the authority figure deems is freedom.
I would agree with this, I believe. I think there are two facets to freedom. There is "true" freedom and then there is "perceived" freedom. True freedom is where you are bound by no laws, no rules, no societal obligations aka following the anarchic model. Perceived freedom is where you are bound to the laws, rules, and obligations of society but you are free to buy a house, start a family, drive a car etc providing that you meet the requirements to actually do so, that being have an income, have a good credit score, have the means to support and provide for the family, have a license and so on and so forth. It's a perception of freedom, where free but with constraint. You cannot have true freedom without those barriers.

I think in Ted's case, the power process is a means of survival. We create goals and strive to attain those goals. Were one to live off the land you'd be constantly setting goals and trying to achieve them i.e build shelter, get food and what not. I think the purpose and end result of this will just differentiate between the "true" and "perceived" freedoms.

If you only read primary sources you're doomed.
If you only read secondary sources you're doomed.
The only ones that will make it read both primary and (various conflicting) secondary sources. Now stop being a nigger.

I'm thinking of buying a kettlebell and devoting most of my free time to training while listening to audiobooks - and then rereading the same chapters while I'm resting.

Stop being rude, it hurts my feelings. My initial hyperbole was just bait
Secondly, Thrasymachus is saying that the ones good at justice would be the unjust, because they could exploit it for their own benefit. Plato, the way I've understood it, is stating that people who are good at their crafts don't wish to outdo each other, but that seems foolish.
That's what I mean in my last sentence, that if people who are good at their crafts can indeed wish to outdo each other, then the unjust really are the ones who are good at justice

Honestly I hate how bad YT has become. Nothing but ads, and even if you have adblocker youtubers will literally stop the video dead in its track to shill their sponsor's product. It has been completely commercialized and corporatocratized, videos are optimized to get the maximum amount of views and ad revenue. Fuck, you just can't discover any hidden gems by rummaging in the weird side of YT because the recommendation algorithm is so fucked. What happened to "Broadcast Yourself"? It's telling that they dropped their motto years ago. Where did it all go wrong?

My head hurts. Too much info. I feel like every time I try to form a coherent worldview, new bits of information come and smash the rock of my foundation, so the ground beneath my feet is always caving in and exposing me to the void. I think the only solution is to go through that multi-part philosophy chart but... there's just too many books, not enough time, so what's the point? Makes me want to give up on the pursuit of knowledge, because I suspect it's fruitless. Or that I won't like what I find at the end anyways.

I certainly feel lost. Lately, I've been trying to form a coherent worldview, but while I think /pol/ is pretty retarded, I feel I'm sliding dangerously close to blue pill think. Guess I have to get to read the books on the political theory chart soon

I never even did school work since 3rd grade. Was a straight A student and then they put me in those GATE classes where the windows were blocked off and made us take “hearing tests” with these giant beige headphones from like the 70s (This was in 2002/2003. After that I asked to be taken out of GATE and I became a retarded idiot who slept in every class and eventually got sent to a prison school for skipping high school almost every day. Dropped out once a 19 year old gang member broke my shoulder in my sophomore year.

I remember reading Catcher in The Rye on my own in 8th grade, and they wanted us to read Eli Weisels Night in middle school AND high school, along with Anne Frank’s Diary. I asked my teacher what a Jew was, as I didn’t understand why the Nazis were killing them all. I remember being sent to detention for really pushing the question because I couldn’t fathom why the Nazis would hate them so much for no reason other than being of a religion.

Fuck school, I would hide out in parks and write poetry while making out with older girls.

Isaac was a lot more a child of God than of Abraham, and it does make intuitive sense to demand a sacrifice of what is most dear to you. It's the most miraculous feat of faith by a human man in the Christian tradition, I don't understand how people project so many negative qualities onto it.
