Yeah, fuck those faggots! I-it's not like I'm a gay or anything. I would hate to be an eromenos slut getting my boipussy rammed by a dirty old man. The very thought repulses me. I love vaginas.

Do you guys here at /lit/ ever help people find books they read forever ago? I had this one kids fantasy book I read a long time ago and I only really remember small snippets of it and my keywords aren't googling for me right.

Main character was a young (teen?) boy. He had to collect these disc-like trinkets for a belt to save the world/keep the dark at bay. I remember there was one for iron and there was a song listing all of them and they were listed in a song format of "One for the _____, two for the _____..." with one of the sections saying "track" as the word but I don't remember which one - for example "two for the track"
He had to 'forge' one of them since it was made out of wood and thus went bad every few hundred years or so. This chapter had something about eternally burning something.
There was a chapter about him being in his house all alone at night on something-eve and it was snowing and the 'dark' was out there.

Anyway I hope I'm not breaking any of your board rules and I really hope you can help me find this book.

Is Infinite Jest a good book outside of the novelty of its length and unconventional style?

How do you focus while reading? Recently my mind wonders, and while I continue to read while such a thing happens, I'm not retaining like I used to. Maybe it's because I'm just not interested in these college readings I have been doing recently, but still I wish I could focus for longer than a paragraph.

I'm not really sure where else to go besides /b/ and fuck that. So I came to see if you guys like my poem. Feel free to post more poetry.

Hot metal and flaming skin

How did this all begin?
Nostalgic air swirling; Euphoric and sweet
Lifting the bed and hovering the sheets.
Magic carpets were never exactly as foretold
As being the wings of death after they unfold.
Caressing with care,
When no one else was there.
Shades of tinted glasses cover your eyes,
But this is bound to be no surprise.
Dirt and mud suffocate me
But have I ever felt so free?

/lit/ i need some help with world building and writing.

-what are some good aspects for villains to have? The guy i'm writing isn't really sympathetic but he certainly believes he's doing the right thing. he's a huge asshole though and incredibly fucked up. And for that matter are there any hallmarks of mustache-twirling villains i'm not aware of? i'd like to avoid that association as much as possible.

-introducing characters. my current revision has them basically being chosen by the main character who's a naive piece of shit. I'm doing my best to stick some comical character interactions in there so they leave more of an impression once they join the team, but they're coming out a little bland, any tips? the setting is a rural farming village.

hey lit, confession time

i like to write fiction. i like it so much that i end up fabricating truths about my own life, and really it just borders to the point of exaggeration. i tell my friends that it's not really doing any harm, its just me trying to keep up my practice at making things up for what I write.

But I come with a question: am I just a pathological liar?

I am currently in the process of writing a science fiction book. What are the odds of it ever being published?
