So what you're saying is that /lit/ should have astrology threads instead of MBTI threads.

>tfw editing away on my big work

I've reached the point where I am having to switch, rapidly, between editing sentences of prose and editing lines of poetry. It's such a strange sensation because I can FEEL my mind working harder on the poetry than the prose. Editing poetry just takes more brain power than editing prose, I can tell by the contrast that arises in my mental state when I switch between the two, as I'm editing this big work of mine.

I read incredibly slowly.
I've been going through Hamilton's Mythology for the last two months just taking it a story/section at a time.
This pace also makes it easier to not burn out.

They're the kinda girl you hate at first sight but then fall for after spending too much time around them; however, if you jerk off immediately after developing those feelings, they'll likely go away and you'll go back to thinking she's an ugly sperg.

Here's a question that might generate interesting discussion: what is the most boring story that you have ever found genuinely interesting and engaging?

Obviously I'm talking about a realistic/literary story, as opposed to something like fantasy or science fiction. But it's more than that. I'm wondering how many people have ever been entertained by a realistic story that is very mundane--that doesn't have dramatic plot twists like adultery, children out of wedlock, an emotional divorce, a major character death. A book or a short story whose entire plot is extremely mundane and low-key, but you nonetheless deeply enjoyed it.

And if you have such a story, what's its name?

There need to be more literature-related threads on the literature board.

What was the last book you finished?
What are you reading right now?
What do you want to read next?

Anybody else getting kind of disillusioned with the idea of even having a book backlog? I know, in theory, it will help you maintain some discipline and tick some boxes off on your list of books to read. But for me, in practice, it's basically just been a source of stress. I keep worrying about all the procrastinating I'm doing, about how long it's going to take me to finish the whole list. And on top of that, I keep finding out about NEW books I want to read, and so I start worrying about whether to skip ahead in my backlog or add them to the very back of the list.

Is it better to just not have a backlog at all? Is it better to just have a book you want to read, read it, and then not worry about whatever "should" come next?
