I just cannot seem to get a deeper understanding of what i'm reading, I just focus on the plot and the feeling of the style (although i do not analyse them on a rational level) but I'm not able of "getting" the themes and deeper significance of the text.
For example, i just recently read the Magic Mount in about 10 days or so, and i didnt catch many of its themes until i read the wiki page about it, nor did i really dive into its many philosophical arguments and musings. I just couldn't seem to devote my attention to them.
I just wanted to know if you have ever felt like this, or what techniques do you use or what habits have you developed to better analyse and comprehend a text.
I'd really appreciate honest advice, but you can also tell me to go off myself, in either case, thanks in advance.
