Some of us *did* try to make it half-way decent. More fool us.

I know this isn't a painless or instantaneous process but I'm at a crossroads here, I'm getting conflicting advice from every direction. My issue is that I tend to write how I think and speak - with a lot of digression and sudden interjections - and I also tend to write with a lot of "filler", as it's been called, especially since I prefer to write in a first-person view. It comes out most naturally that way, for me anyway.

Now when I try third-person some of that stuff gets cut away in the transition, but a lot of it remains, albeit in a more subdued way. I'm always being told to write the way I talk and think, so it doesn't feel forced. Well, when I do that, the people who read my stuff say there's too much digression and fluff. Don't get me wrong, I don't go ginsberg and shit out sixteen schizophrenic ramblings on a page, but (it's probably noticeable in this post) I do tend to meander, you could say. When I edit out all that stuff, though, I read it and it feels so flat and boring. It feels like there's so much missing - like there's a bunch of gaps between sentences. I suppose I might have to just learn to think and speak more concisely, but honestly I don't see that happening.

Does /lit/ have any advice or experience with this? Or anything they tried to help make their writing tighter without sounding like every other MLA creative writing paper?

Anyone have the version where the track forms a loop so it will run over both groups of people on the track?

Or the one where
