>"What's your favorite book?"
Nobody who actually reads can answer this question.

I have a few favorite books when it comes to the style, a few when it comes to characterization, a few when it comes to the ideas expressed, a few that might not be technically amazing but really resonate with me and so I really love them, etc. And in each of these categories, the top book can shift depending on the day and current mood. There isn't just one clear cut answer.

If you can actually answer that question, you don't read. You're somebody who memorized an answer (one you think sounds cool) so you can look like you read.

>talking with friend.
>having fun, shooting the shit, no problems.
>somebody else arrives.
>now that he has an audience, friend starts "subtly" putting me down with "jokes".
>audience pretends not to notice what he's doing and to laugh at innocent jokes, even though they know that it's not innocent and they must also know that I know that they know it.

Books about how life is a nauseating, pointless, endless little theather?

Alternatively, books about how normies need to die?

Why do schools teach literature in a way that almost completely dissuades any students that don't already regularly read from delving into books? Critical thinking is important and all but it sucks out the fun of reading when it's all you're ever given to do

mods don't delete this thread. books this has happened in and made me frustrated because i otherwise liked the works were:

>V (several pynchon works have this but this is the my favorite one)
>hyperion cantos
>ulysses

I'm not even anti-semetic, but its such a trope at this point. Western intellectuals are either anti or philo-semetic. Its trite boring and tiresome.

Why are ESLs always saying Shakespeare is overrated? I’ve seen 3 ESLs say this.
