What would a interaction between Ted and Diogenes be like? both were primitivists, both hated societal conventions and wanted to live free lives, did Ted know about Diogenes or was influenced by him in some way? Difference is Diogenes didn't resort to violence but instead lewd and shocking acts, and tried to get people to change by admonishing them.

I just got rejected by a girl because of my nationality. Are there any books about being a lonely third class citizen?

What do I read to know the deal with diogenes?
I haven't read any of the classic philosophers really (I don't read that much but when I do read I go for stuff known to be in the S tier of books, and yes I am capable of finishing a book). I want to know diogenes' deal specifically, but if there is requisite knowledge to be aware of regarding other people in that time period or similar schools of thought/foundational stuff to read then sure, I'll read that too.
Worth reading wikipedia/online articles or will that just ruin it for me? Any unreliable sources to avoid?
Thanks.

>He does still want to have power and wealth, but tells himself it is bad - so his morality is in conflict with who he is as a person.
>A master does not have this conflict in morals. He likes the things that he wants, and since he is able to have these things he is not forced into coming up with subversive morals.

Mine was Socrates until I found out how based Diogenes the Cynic was:

>virtue is in action, not in theory
>lives in a barrel (/ceramic jar)
>self-sufficiency is the goal
>society is corrupt and misguided - so he constantly trolls people to make them uncomfortable
>pisses and spits on people, shits on the street
>dogs live a better life than people, they are true to their nature
>follows the footsteps of Heracles, toughens himself
>citizen of the world (cosmopolitan)
>became a slave, said he wished to be sold to a man who needed a master
>lived for 90 years
>even Alexander the Great admires him

He was the absolute madman.

The only way to complete rid yourself of slave mentality is to become a hobo who doesn't give a shit about anything. See pic related. So in order for decent society to progress, we need some slave mentality.

Pirating is supposedly bad because creators and copy right holders lose out on fair re-compensation for their produced product.

So if you pirate something that you would not have otherwise bought, then there is no damage done and no profit lost.

Therefore there are many scenarios in which pirating must be morally right or at least morally neutral. One of these scenarios is you pirating a book that you could not have otherwise afforded. Actually you would be foolish not to pirate it.
