I'm the only one in the family that hasn't had a gf. I feel happy for them but envy at the same time. We moved three different countries but I felt the brunt of it because I was old enough to remember having to make new friends in 3 different countries and languages; me being an outsider where everyone had their own friend group and me being shut out because our parents commanded so much of us yet gave so little

I could die tomorrow and my parents would get over it after a few days. I want to get out of the house but don't have enough money nor does my degree finish for another two years.

I also just get really confused when /lit/ talks about philosophers that are not related to existentialism bc that's really the only field I know a little about. I want to read something that challenges my view on life

Something which is important to keep in mind is that today and yesterday are not the same things. These people upset the apple cart when there was actual personal hazard to themselves, and they had something to lose. Not so today. May other authors similarly continue to denounce Islam and Chinese Communism from within.

I'm about to type a lot, so if you actually read all this and respond, then I really appreciate it.

So, I've been attempting to write a book like everyone else. Why? I don't know. Just to try something else I guess. I'll probably fail at that too like all my other creative endeavors. But fuck it. It's therapeutic sometimes, and I feel like I've accomplished something if I write a decent section that makes me go, "Fuck yeah!"

I went to Target today, and browsed the best current best sellers. Read a few passages from each of them. I realized, "I can fucking do this."

Then I come here and realize I don't know shit. I'm clearly not as well versed as a lot of you. I haven't gotten a sense of this board yet.
But then again, can we say the same about some of those authors on the Target book shelf?

I migrated over here from /biz/ after being mostly there for the better part of a year. That board has pretty much gone to shit and become a haven for nonstop shitcoin shilling.

From a business perspective, if you are releasing a product, you identify a niche, and analyze the fucking shit out of all your competition. This way, you know exactly how to create and market your product, down to the finer details.

When it comes to literature, there are fucking hundreds of books on subjects. The other day I was at Barnes and Noble and was just amazed at how many fucking cook books there are. Like holy shit. I guess those authors don't give a fuck about their "competition."

I digress. I'll get to the point.

My questions are:

1) What are some good books on philosophy, or even psychology I can read on? I'm interested in "happiness" vs depression and it's correlation to today's society. Everything comes off as "self helpish". Sometimes that stuff is too corny.
2) How do you be competitive? Do you literally have to fucking read everything to know where you fit in?
3) Anybody here publish some works? Any tips on that?
