Do you agree with Jeremy Bentham that there should be no interest rate caps or Adam Smith that there should be? :3

I have two articles left of Bentham's Defence of Usury, and I am like 1/5th of the way done Posterior Analytics and Nicole Oresme's treatise on the difformities and uniformities of intensities.

I don't read every day these days though, usually it's just on the weekends. Like that's what I read today. And I have a big shopping cart of books I need to buy but I'm in the transitional period between apartments right now. Just kind of trying to pay the bills right now :3

Current:

Roger Bacon - Opus Majus
Clive Granger and Oskar Morgenstern - Predictability of Stock Market Prices
Nicole Oresme - Tractatus de configurationibus qualitatum et motuum
Jeremy Bentham - A Defence of Usury
Aristotle - Posterior Analytics

After:

Thomas Bradwardine - Speculative Geometry
John Harsanyi - Rational behavior and bargaining equilibrium in games and social situations
Nicole Oresme - On Seeing the Stars
Jeremy Bentham - On the Principles of Morals and Legislation
Aristotle - The Topics

Bentham's book is extremely thought provoking. It seems Adam Smith took antagonizing stances towards Bentham, and Bentham almost has a profligate (though free) view of money and interest entirely, and that except in unreasonable circumstances, there should be no regulation whatsoever. :3

Nicole Oresme - Tractatus de configurationibus qualitatum et motuum
Jeremy Bentham - A Defence of Usury
Aristotle - Posterior Analytics

Post what you're currently reading and what you'll be reading next

Now:
Witelo - Perspectivae (Bk. I + V)
Clive Granger and Michio Hatanaka - Spectral Analysis of Economic Time Series
Nicole Oresme - Tractatus de configurationibus qualitatum et motuum
Jeremy Bentham - A Defence of Usury
Aristotle - Prior Analytics

After:
Roger Bacon - Opus Majus
Clive Granger and Oskar Morgenstern - Predictability of stock market prices.
Nicole Oresme - On Seeing the Stars
Jeremy Bentham - An Introduction into the Principles of Morals and Legislation
Aristotle - Posterior Analytics

I probably won't be reading after work this week (maybe, but the commute will probably kill any sort of livelihood I have), but I did enjoy reading Nicole Oresme today.

The text is combining metaphysics with geometry, and while that is really nothing new (honestly any reader of Nicomachus or Proclus would tell you it's a simple connection) it really is interesting the way Oresme does it.

French philosophers have always been mathematical, hm? :3
