Hey guys, I have a villanelle here that I wrote up for class, thought I'd revise it before turning it in. I'm not a poet, and I know it sucks, the class just wants us to hand in a poem. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Sometimes I wish you were with me
As I go walk around this place.
And then I look around and see

This is no place for you nor me.
Oh! How I wish to see your face!
Sometimes I wish you were with me.

That in this room we could be free
And share this jackets tight embrace.
But then I look around and see

Was this place made for you or me?
This room’s blank walls give us our space.
Sometimes I wish you were with me.

You here with me would bring such glee!
And then I think I spy your trace
And then I look around and see

That in this room… it is just me.
That this is quite a horrid place.
Sometimes I wish you were with me
And then I look around and see.

Anyone have any tips for writing a realistic-fiction novel? I was planning on writing a war story, but whenever i read my drafts, I end up thinking its crap.
